it is not difficult for us to find immense differences happened in dongying, especially after the reforming and opening-up. when i was a volunteer of the china-dongying international petroleum equipment & technology exhibition in xx,what shocked me is the rapid growth of this land. with the increasing development of social modernization,we aim not only at efficiently improving people’s life,but in the success of constructing an affluent society and thoroughly applying the scientific outlook on development in recent decades. in order to achieve these goals,it will be our responsibilities to make contributions. as a student at college,the greatest contribution i can do is to keep the determination,endeavor to study scientific knowledge and keep the sense of historical responsibility. in this way,i believe,the future of dongying will be better.

the cynics say we care for nothing other than grades; and we neglect the need for character cultivation. but again, the cynics are wrong. we care deeply for each other, we cherish freedom, we treasure justice, and we seek truth. last week, thousands of my fellow students had their blood type tested in order to make a contribution for the children who suffer from blood cancer.
as college students, we are adolescents at the critical turning point in our lives. we all face a fundamental choice: cynicism or faith, each will profoundly impact our future, or even the future of our country. i believe in all my fellow classmates. though we are still inexperienced and even a little bit childish. i believe that we have the courage and faith to meet any challenge and take on our responsibilities. we are preparing to assume new responsibilities and tasks, and to use the education we have received to make our world a better place. i believe in our future.

and what i am going to talk about today is unforgettable experience. some people say, time flies. in fact, that is the case. in my memory, numbers of things have happened over the past 20 years.
while, i would like to share the two most unforgettable things with you.
first,let us look back to a accident at my age of 4 which occurred in my use of low frequency of returning to my hometown,i stayed unfamiliar with the transportation in the village road. one day, i happened to go across the road on my own. suddenly, a medium size of truck strike into my sight and consequently knocked into me. frankly speaking,when referring to the details of what had happened to me under the truck,my mind will go blank. nevertheless,it’s said that i had been hung under the truck for a long way. finally what counted most was my survival.
the second event should be my failure in the college entrance exam. regardless of lacking hard study in the first four semesters,i still kept myself one of the top students in our class. what was more, i had improved my attitude before the last semester came and progress had fellow it. as the saying goes, “life is full of uncertains”. on the day the result came out , i felt that the sky is falling which had last for several days. whereas,when i occasionally wander in this campus,when i just stand here to make a speech of my unforgettable experience,i will by no means treat myself a “lucky dog”.
after these two events,there exist abundant reasons for me to hold the belief that my fate is full of luck and will forever be as long as i keep fight my way out with smile in my face. and that also told me courage. for me, having courage does not mean not to be afraid, but to have fear in my mind and just to do it meanwhile trying to make it. it just like i am standing here inevitably feeling a little nervous as well as holding faith in my heart.

i'm lai senhan from the university of international business & economics. do you know what date is it today? today is the olympic date. i'm so glad to stand here today to share my idea about beijing olympic games together with you all. the title of my speech is: what can we do for beijing olympic games?
first of all, let me tell you a story that happened 2 years ago. at the end of august, 20xx, when i decided to come to beijing for study, my friends hel* * **rewell party for me. they said: after your graduation, you should look for a job in beijing, and then in 20xx, we shall go to visit you during the olympic games. i laughed and answered: ok, no problem!
time flied and 2 years passed. now i am a graduate. my teachers and classmates always ask me: what's your plan after your graduation? go back home, stay in beijing, or go to some other places? and i always answer: i will stay in beijing. i make this decision not because of my promise to my friends 2 years ago, but because: i've fallen in love with beijing! i'm eager to welcome the coming olympic games together with my fellow countrymen, and i wish i could do something for the olympics & for the city.
as we know, beijing will host the 29th summer olympic games in 20xx. as a chinese, i think many people are thinking: what we can do for beijing olympic games. most of us are not athletes, we cannot take part in competitions directly; we are not officials either, we don't need to do the preparatory work. we are only ordinary people, what we can do!
there are still so many things we can do! for example, for me, i am a graduate majoring business english. as far as i am concerned, i will keep on learning english hard, and apply for being a volunteer. i will use english to serve the games together with other volunteers. and also, as a businessman at that time, i will avail myself of the great commercial opportunities that the olympics brings to us, make more efforts to offer my contribution to the growth of our national economy.
and for all of us, with the goal to host a "green olympics", we shall plant more trees, grass & flowers. don't waste water. in order to alleviate the problems of air pollution & traffic congestions, we shall take buses & subways more. with the goal to host a "people's olympics", and in order to make our olympics more attractive and to make our beijing more beautiful, we shall help everyone we meet who needs help, we shall abide by traffic rules, don't smoke in public and no spitting. the most important way for our chinese to support our beijing olympic games, in my opinion, is to work hard on our duties.
